Thanks for sharing. Your city numbers for the gx come out to 11 mpg which is well below the mark. Looks like the new gx hybrid will have the same engine as the lc. I wonder how many Lexus gx owners would take the hybrid over the 6cylWe have a GX550 and a LC in our house. My wife primarily drives the GX550 but we end up driving both during a week depending on the task/schedule.
In the city the LC hands down gets better fuel economy than the GX, we're getting about 11L/100km in the city, which is close to the advertised fuel economy. In the GX we're getting about 21L/100km, which is significantly worse than advertised and nearly 2X the LC.
On the highway the fuel economy is slightly better on the GX, we're in the 9'sL/100km vs around 10L/100km for the LC. For us on the highway the GX beats the advertised fuel economy ratings vs the LC which doesn't quite make it there. My guess is that the GX is less strained at highway speeds vs the LC.
We're pretty conservative drivers and the elevation is flat out here.
I personally prefer the V6 for a Lexus, even with the terrible in town fuel economy, it feels significantly smoother/more refined than the 4cyl hybrid. Also the traffic where we live is terrible so other GX550 owners are probably getting better city fuel economy than we are. Thanks for sharing.
