I bought my LC in April of this year and only have 913 miles. I'm definitely a few months away from my first scheduled maintenance (every 6 months or 5K miles). However, I got an email from the dealership where I typically get my service (I take my Highlander there and also bought my LC there) that said my first service is overdue and that "Your first service is vital to ensure that all is working 100% as promised to you at the time of purchase." I have ToyotaCare so I don't see any cost associated with the maintenance other than the time waiting for the service to be done. I'd like to be proactive about maintenance, but this seems more like the dealership trying to book labor hours and trying to find extra work, rather than the manufacturer's recommended service. And I would also hate wasting my time waiting for unnecessary service.

Any thoughts? Should I just do it for piece of mind and get the first service done or is it a waste of time?

Those email are automated, they send them to everyone on their email list with a vehicle on file.

Of course it's up to you............ My service plan was/is:

1st oil change - 500-1000 miles. IMO vital to flush out any crud left over from the build process. This was a DIY change.
2nd oil change at the 5K mark on the odometer. DIY at home, then to the dealer's for the checkup service.
3rd oil change at the 10K mark, performed by the dealer.
4th will be similar to the 2nd, I'll do the oil and let the dealer do the service.

Welcome to the asylum.
