Howdy!

Switching over from a lifetime of Toyota Trucks (and one Sequoia).

Been looking for my "last" Toyota (actually probably not, but it sounds good)

Calling upon the joint wisdom here, go for a 2025 or wait for the 2026 Hybrid?

Will be cruising the back roads of Colorado, sometimes pulling an OPUS 15 trailer. Won't be on technical stuff, except by accident..

Need a model that will tow the 6000lbs of that loaded trailer, but will be used a lot without a trailer as well..

Some longer highway trips in the offing as well..

What say you??

Thanks!

6,000 lbs is the full limit of the towing capacity of the LC, so you may want to look into a vehicle that has a higher towing capacity if you plan to do that regularly. The Lexus GX or the Sequoia can tow up to 9,000 lbs, for example. I definitely wouldn't push the towing capacity, particularly if I was having to go up mountain roads in CO.

Other than that though, there's been nothing to suggest that there's any reason to wait for the 2026 over the 2025, at least not at this point.

I saw some speculation that the 2026 model may have a higher towing weight rating (7500lbs), thus my thoughts of delay..

If that's the case, it would be worth waiting, for you...but as far as I know, there hasn't been any official word from Toyota regarding any changes to the LC 250 for the 2026 model year just yet.

Yep, I haven't seen anything official either, but I can hope...

Thanks for your insights!

There probably won't be any info on the 2026 until maybe October? I'd be surprised if there are any major changes for 2026, especially to the drivetrain. The 2024 barely got out before it switched to 2025, it's basically still the first model year. But if you're not in a hurry you can always wait and see.

I'd agree with PDPete though, probably not the best choice in vehicle if you're going to be towing that much. That would probably sway me to getting the Lexus GX 550 instead.

The Tariff announcement today (assuming it isn't backed off in the future) would be a reason to move forward with a 2025.

They are so randomly here or not, it's hard to factor this in. Unless you're buying one off the lot you just don't know what the situation will be in a week. Probably that will drive a larger price increase next model year though just due to the additional cost they're already seeing (10% plus the higher jumps averaged over time) and uncertainty.

Welcome to the Jungle!

For 2026, I wonder if they will add more accessory options like an air compressor in the cargo bay or a safe box. The 4R and GX have a few more gadgets and it could bring the LC up to parity.

I’m waiting just to see if they can come out with some better colors. I hate bright blue, white, and black vehicles. That leaves old man meteor or mostly black underground. Come on Toyota. Bring back cement, metallic grey, red, green, silver. Anything

I recently towed my 5000lb Cobalt boat about 3 hours and it did really well! I was surprised by how well it did. The power was the same with or without the boat behind it. Hills it was in the higher rpm's.

Most people think my Meteor Shower (Brown Sugar Metallic in Canada) is my girlfriend's vehicle. lol

Cement would be cool as would tan/mudbath. I'm not a fan of the trail dust, but someone PPF's their roof in black and it really mad the color look better.

I get people liking Heritage Blue (I don't), but a dark metallic blue would maybe look good, maybe not. Their are colors that look good on the new 4R/Taco, but not on the boxy LC.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "special" colors (Heritage Blue, Trail Dust) get replaced with other signature colors within the next model year or two, but past that, I wouldn't expect anything too radical from Toyota...they've always kept a very conservative/traditional approach when it comes to styling for anything with the "Land Cruiser" name plate.

So yeah, maybe a red or green variety, but probably not a Cement, and definitely nothing like Solar Octane. Personally, I think the LC 250 would look great in their Blueprint color, but that's another one I doubt will ever be offered....I guess we'll see...

When i tow 6k i go with a 1 ton diesel truck with lots of performance goodies, 4wd, lockers, more..
At least a Sequoia, error on the safe side.
You are already out of spec and control if anything goes wrong as it often does.
Good luck.

Where did you see this? Do they have any other information?

Looking, I lost the link.. I'll put it up if I find it..

Albeit it was only in one place, and although hope springs eternal, It probably isn't the best technique to hitch my dream to one blog..

I was thinking that for 2026 they would add the aux switches and the air compressor to the back lick they did with the GX550 overtrail/OT+.

I too would like some new colors. I am torn between heritage blue, ice cap and underground right now with the brown interior.
