Heading over to a friends house to do some welding on the DV8 winch mount I installed a few weeks ago. I'd like to take my bumper off and leave it at home so I don't have to do all that at his house and waste his time. I saw in one YouTube video where it would pop up warning lights due to the sensors being disconnected which would need to be cleared via OBDII. That is not a problem for me and I can clear them easily. However, I was wondering if anyone knew whether it would be an issue (as in completely unable to) while trying to drive without the bumper? I imagine it wouldn't completely incapacitate the vehicle because that would be an issue if you are in the mountains and the bumper gets ripped off.

Thoughts or experience?

It will drive just fine other than the warnings popping up for everything that is disconnected, I turned mine around in the garage with the bumper off. For me I would worry about debris hitting the radiator/intercooler and A/C condenser, if its just local streets not really a big deal.

It is illegal however to drive without a bumper installed. Doubt they would pull you over for that but since the crash bar is removed and the only true bumper you have left is the DV8 it could be an issue?

The warnings all disappeared on their own for me. I still went in an cleared the codes that it stored though and got a warning on the Toyota app that I can't touch that appears in my Toyota service history now. Dealer never mentioned it at the 5k service though.
