Hi All,

With the incredibly rare good weather in the Boston area, I am enjoying opening my rear window hatch for better air flow.

Is there a way this is bad? I wouldnt do it going highway speeds clearly.

Thanks

I'd only be worried about that there is no metal frame, just glass. What would happen on a big pothole or something else jarring.

I would worry about being labeled as incredibly stoopid for life and having that tattooed across your forehead for all to see.
And then when you say, why bo bo its ok, they cut off your hands to prevent you from driving ever again.

I have done it multiple times when hauling lumber in the back. It does fine.

He already said he's from Boston, so...

(And hey, I'm from that area too, so before anyone gets all upset, I'm just saying I qualify as well.:D)

There's this post, Drive w rear hatch open?

And I just purchased these, Rear Glass Stabilizer – Rad Rubber Design – FJ Fender Flaps, Toyota Engine Splash Guards

There's some posts about the glass stabilizers, I think for short distances it's probably okay but to each their own
There are versions of that generally marketed for dogs, I have a couple from my FJ that I can now use on the Land Cruiser. I've tested that they work but haven't actually used them on the Land Cruiser yet. (On my FJ I mostly used them so I could leave the back window slightly open when parked at work on hot days.) Mine are not this brand, but the same idea. I plastic-dipped the hook and flat area around it do I can tighten it down and have it be quiet.

I was just amazed yesterday at the grocery store, that with the key fob in my pocket, the glass hatch will unlock when you press the little rubber button. You don't have to touch your key fob - just has to be on you. So with my hands full with groceries it worked so well!

I use this feature all the time to get drinks out of my refrigerator. The top of the fridge is pretty much even with the opening for the window. Very handy!
