Disable power lift gate?

What’s everyone’s solution to disabling the power lift gate? My 1Up lives on the LC and when folded up or when I have bikes on it want to make sure I don’t accidently open the power liftgate via key or the button on the dash.

Thanks was able to do it however there seems to be a ton of force required to open it is that normal?

Every power lift gate I've ever opened or closed manually always required a little more force than a non-powered lift gate.

Well, I don't think the system was really designed to be manipulated manually. So, yeah, I think that's probably normal.

I think The Car Care Nut said that you shouldn't close power lift gates by hand (I think he was using a RAV4 as video subject), that it ruins the strut. Not sure if true, but it seems odd that Toyota would design it that way.
