I wanted to share my experience with Uniden R8 radar detector installation.
I did not want to use suction cups on my windshield (reliability issues), did not want mirror mount because a good one like BlendMount price is $$$ and dash mat places radar detector too low with obstructed rear exposure.
I wanted to place my RD as high as possible and unnoticeable, so I went the following pass;
-I made the supporting arm from aluminum L-bar and drilled few lightening holes
-secured it with two screws to the top mirror housing cover
-attached radar mount to it
-in order to use Uniden hardwire kit with mute button($30) I run power from the engine compartment fuse box via the firewall(thank you EOD Guy for the tip) and pass the main cable under the right A-pillar cover.
-I cut off the plastic faceplate from the "MUTE" box of the hardwire kit and placed it next to "camera button" just above the charging pad.
So far so good...
