In all other cars I have been in with Carplay, when you have the radio on and hit the button to say a command, the radio goes quiet. In the LC, it does not. I have talk over the song (or whatever is on the radio) to say my command. It is very awkward to say the least. As a related issue, I have always had the ability to separately set volumes for radio, voice control, nav, etc. Can we not do that on the LC?

Tangentially related but still very annoying issue is that radio sound turns off and audio is not recorded when I’m talking videos when iPhone is connected to LC via carplay

I love this vehicle but this issue is seriously annoying. I can’t imagine how Toyota figured it would be acceptable.
To make matters worse, when you get a text and the notification banner pops up in CarPlay, it covers the play/pause button on the music such that you can’t even try to pause the music before you listen to the text dictation. The most you can do is wait for the banner to disappear, pause the music, then ask Siri to read the text that just came in. I guess that doesn’t sound so bad when I describe it, but it’s pretty annoying IRL.
And another thing - if you do tap the banner and cause the system to read the text, it’s impossible to turn down the music because the volume control aims at the dictation volume, not the music volume, until it’s done reading.

It does the same thing with audiobooks. That is a function of Apple CarPlay, and not Toyota.
I agree that this implementation of the mute function sucks. It has been like this ever since this entertainment system was used in the first vehicle, which was the 2022 Lexus NX. For years everyone has complained to Toyota about the same thing and it just falls on deaf ears.
