I received my CA Tuned Off Road front bumper this week, it looks great and was delivered much quicker than I had anticipated. There were a couple of hiccups, nothing major, I was asked to provide extra funds to cover shipping and there were no instructions or guidance on how to install the new bumper. When I reached out CA Tuned Off Road, they let me know that they didn’t have any installation guides/videos but were able to provide the references for cutting.

I figured that I would share them with this group in case someone runs into the same issue.

CATunedOffroad 250 series LC Front Bumper Install video here. My apologies it's not too detailed when it comes to showing the specifics of all the fasteners/bolts/screws' locations, but this should give you an idea of the overall install process. I was ill-prepared when asked to make a quick video for them during the install. Additional (more detailed) resources can be found on the boards here when it comes to removing the bumper cover, wiring the winch, etc. Hope that helps answer any questions, and feel free to ask away if you still have more!

not gonna lie, Toyota really over engineered these damn LC250 bumpers. way too much going on behind the scenes in all that plastic

Good looking bumper but wanting additional money for shipping and no instructions, I’m out.
Yeah, the additional shipping cost was a surprise. On other large items that they have for sale on their site, they explicitly state that extra shipping rates will apply but they didn’t have that stated for the bumper.

This is so helpful, thank you for posting this. The issue I am running into is/was trying to figure out where those winglets attached and how. Other than, you made this look really easy. I ended up removing all of the plastic pieces individually, which I am kicking myself for doing. It will be a little easier to make the cuts without accidentally cutting into the harness.

Thank you again for making this video!

Also just curious, how the hell did you get the parking sensors in? The bumper itself comes with what looks like rubber grommets that should fit the existing sensors, but the do not. There is also some supplied housings for the sensors that fit them perfectly but I have no idea how you would get them into the bumper. Do you just pry the original rubber grommets out and push the provided ones through?

Thank you again for all of your time and energy, without instructions, this has been a very complicated and time consuming project.

I didn’t catch how they transferred it over but here are some pictures I took of the front and back of the parking sensors. I believe they use their supplied housing. I think you would have to remove the sensor from the oem plastic grommets like I’ve seen from install videos of other bumpers (with a heat gun to soften up the adhestive). Hope that helps!!

Ok so they definitely got the sensor housing that the provided, pushed in somehow. The sensor housing that they provided in the bumper itself does not work.

This is my current situation.

Sorry I couldn’t help anymore, not sure how they mounted it as I was watching them cut instead. Give Max @ CATuned a call and he should be able to tell you how the sensor mounts work. It looks like the second mount that you were provided is the correct one, just a matter of figuring out how to replace the other one!

You rock @advnt4re - I really appreciate all of the wisdom and insight you’ve shared. Thanks again!

I'm really perplexed by company that would not/cannot provide installation instructions, especially when cutting of the original is involved....
Agreed, of course I had no idea at the time of ordering that it would not come with any instructions. I did immediately check the product listing on their site, as a lot of manufacturers at least post installation videos, there were none available. I will say, the video created by @advnt4re was very helpful, I was able to deduce the rest to get it successfully installed. It looks great and I am really happy with the outcome.

After ripping it all out to get this bumper installed, I can confidently say that you are 100% correct sir! There so much extra shit to either trim, rip out or leave in.

Things ripped out were:
  • Plastic “skid plate”
  • The entire underside of the bumper
  • Crash bar
  • Crash bar cover
  • Hex plastic crumple material
  • Some underside covering trim
  • Entire lower section of the middle bumper
  • Miscellaneous rubber/plastic inner pieces

Things trimmed were:
  • The entire middle front center bumper area
  • Front of the lower portion of each wheel well
  • Both wheel well trim pieces

Looks great!! Glad you were able to figure out everything!! Are your high clearance winglets sticking out? They may be upside-down if so, mine are pretty well tucked underneath the bumper cuts.

I don't think it's their intention not to be able to provide instructions to customers as they have instructions for their other products/platforms such as their Grenadier and Sprintervan bumpers. I think Max and the team at CATunedOffroad just forgot to make a video for their first prototype and relied on us ambassadors and our installs to do another install / video instruction for him this time around since we are his prototype vehicles now. I've since sent them my video and they now have it listed on their product page. We've also left feedback for them regarding having instructions or an install vehicle before product readiness 😅 .
