Blaze Offroad Electrical System Upgrade for the Hybrid LC250

This is an interesting development. It looks like Blaze Offroad has plans to add a second battery in the engine bay. You offroad/overland bros can really benefit from this design. Their rep tells me this is going to be a "non-invasive" solution which is a big plus.

I'm curious to see how the prototype turns out and what features it will include.

Guessing the second battery will go in the empty space on the driver's side fender, near the ECUs. It's a group 34r, which seems like it should fit with moving something around.

Lot of aftermarket stuff trying to use that same spot under the hood.

Why wouldn't you just use the passenger side terminal on the fuse box? does that not provide enough amps for a winch? i have seen others hooking up air compressor with lights and other accessories to that with a bus bar.

The fuse power is supposedly 350 amps. Winches draw more.

I know Dissent Offroad just ran a heavy gauge wire from the battery in the rear to terminals they installed in that open area on the driver's side fender.

The main fusible link is 350a. There is also an unused stud located next to the main link that's rated at 200a. So powering a 12,000 lb winch is almost assuredly going to blow the link. According to another ember, the link itself is unattainable and a new harness is the only way to use OEM parts and at $2300 bucks ..............

My recommendation would be to run "00" cables to the engine compartment or install the second battery and a charging isolator.

I have to agree, @2K seems like a lot for a Garmin pwr switch and some cables.

For sure a allot of money!

My setup: six relay/fuse setup box setup, four custom CH4x4 cube switches, winch 500 Amp relay with 300 AMP mini fuse, 1 gauge wire and watertight pass throughs, remote battery terminal posts and ground connection block with Warn winch was less than that! Take the winch away and all in was about $500, 1 Gauge wire is ridiculously expensive, that alone for 30 feet of red and 30 feet of black was $300.00

Of course I had to fab my own brackets but it took less than an hour to do that with some 16 Gauge sheet bent and welded the corners, painting it afterwards took longer. If you didn't have a welder you could get away with corner brackets depending upon OCD level on looks.

I typically use "00" welding cable for long runs......... I know a guy.......LOL and get it at wholesale price. The cable is black and I wrap the POS cable end (about 12") with red shrink wrap.

I ordered mine at the same time as you, towards the end of Black Friday. Had emailed a week or two ago asking for an update/estimation of shipping as I have a bit of under hood electrical to clean up pending their kit with the mounting plate. They generated a UPS shipping label on Monday 1/12, to which I emailed them on Thursday 1/15 as the package still showed as not received yet. They called me on Friday 1/16 stating "they were glad I emailed, a few packages out of all that had been picked up had not been scanned in. They called the local UPS hub who had found them and scanned them in, and the tracking would be updated shortly." It's Monday 1/19 and still no tracking updates. In all my life of ordering things, I've had packages come late, or stall out in a midpoint city for no reason, etc., but never this and honestly I'm not sure whether to trust them or not. I called and left a voicemail this morning, we'll see if I get a response. I would bet if they offer me a refund easily it simply means they never made the kit and got entirely too overwhelmed with orders and are trying to keep people happy by printing out UPS labels.

They sound helpful on the phone etc., but with newer companies you never know truly when it's a better assumption than not that they got overwhelmed and are in a bind. I will say though that I absolutely love their kit and the placement of the relocated terminals. I run on board air in the fwd area where most other companies place their terminals and mounting plates etc., so Blaze's being over the brake reservoir is perfect for me. It does appear that the terminals will prevent the use of hood struts, but I'll wait and see.

It was a fairly simple install! You have to hole saw through the left rear wheel well for pass through fittings, but they're water tight and are behind the fender liner. I noted that when I pulled down the liner, that portion of the vehicle showed no dust or debris at all so I'm confident nothing gets back up in there. With my particular electrical set up I'm not using the plate exactly how it's meant to be used, but it still seems to be the only option for anyone running a compressor behind the driver side headlight and that is rotating the ECU.

As far as the shipping etc., it just took a while to get I'm sure due to sales volumes of Black Friday and build capability.

I just installed 0/1 gauge wire 2 days ago, waiting on a bracket up front, the last picture you see is a gray electric connector remove the top/bottom ones and move to the side, so you don’t drill into it with bit. Get cable gland kits on Amazon unless you can get them local.
