Anyone worried about the soy-based wiring?

My buddy had over $4k in mouse damage to wiring in his Tacoma. He now hangs small bags filled with mothballs with zip ties in out of the way locations to keep the mice away. My brother has the same issue with an older Pilot years ago.

Anyone here have issues with mice/rodents?

About 10 years ago I found out that local chipmunks decided to make a nest in the hood liner in my 4Runner. But somehow they did not touch a single wire. I found bunch of empty acorn shells in it. Had to employ Mr.22 to resolve the issue.

We had a couple of mice in the hood of our 2010 TSX but no chewed wires luckily. Just wondering what people were doing to prevent it. It’s like a smorgasbord under the hood.

Solutions I’ve read about:
-Mint + peppermint essential oil put on cotton swabs inside altoid tins (drill holes in tin). Place/adhere in engine bay, on top of tires, etc. Remove during vehicle use.

-Running a radio underneath vehicle, tuned to human voices, 24/7. Doesn’t have to be extremely loud, just loud enough to prevent critters as they don’t like our sounds.

I own a pest control company and pretty much all wires now or coded with the soy base . A motion sensor light or even a fake snake underneath your car or an owl that you might have to move every once in a while will help and also comb your property and try to locate a nest. They’re pretty recognizable .

I found this damage to the hood liner when I was doing the first oil change in October, at about 1,200 miles.
