Hello guys,

I just ended up purchasing my dream car which is the 2025 LC 1985.
I am already thinking about upgrading my tires. Do you think it will need a speedometer calibration or any sort of calibration if i get 285/70r18?

Also if it possible to just purchase the tires from a tire-shop and have it installed there?

Congratulations tajwar28! Go here to calculate if a speedometer error will occur. To date I have been unable to determine if it is possible to calibrate the LC speedometer. Tire Size Comparison

The only tire size that will not give you a speedometer difference is the stock tire size for the LCLC 265/70/18.
Even with the stock 1958 tires you are really going about 2mph slower than speedo reading.

It probably wonโ€™t be long before there is an aftermarket speedometer calibrator availableโ€ฆitโ€™s just a module that plugs in (after you input the old & new tire settings) and it makes the corrections for whatever tire size you go to. Hypertech is one of the companies to watch or reach out toโ€ฆ

just be aware that the 1958 has 7" width rims... a lot (if not most/all?) of 285s may not fit on the stock rims

Iโ€™m installing 275/70/18 and the shop mentioned anything larger would be too much and need a wider rim.

I'll second this and add that the offset of the 1958 wheels isn't ideal with that size tire either. A set of the Tacoma TRD wheels or the Icon 18" wheels w/40 offset would be more ideal. Also note that size won't fit in the spare tire location.

Congrats and welcome. Check your speed with the OEM tires. My 1958 was off by 2mph. Upsizing may correct the Speedo so recalibrating may not be required.
